Exam Registration

You can see your exam registrations in My study activities.

Registration for ordinary exams

You are automatically registered for the ordinary exam when you register for a course or a project.

Registration for Course re-exams

See below how the registrations for re-exams work when using exam attempts (even if cancelled)

If you fail the ordinary exam for your course, you will have used one exam attempt.

Administratively registered
If the ordinary exam was your first exam attempt, you will be administratively registered for the second exam attempt in the re-exam period.

You need to register yourself
If (due to cancellation of an attempt) the re-exam was your first exam attempt, you will need to register for your second exam attempt yourself, by registering for the course again when offered

  • You then have to follow the course and pass any contingent mandatory activities in order to participate in the exam (your second attempt) in the following exam period in December/January or May/June.

  • You might be exempt from the mandatory activities or allowed to re-submit assignments from earlier, but you need to consult your course manager about this. You need to be sure of what is required of you, to be able to go to the exam.

If you fail your re-exam you will have used two exam attempts.

Depending on the exam period for your second exam attempt, there are two ways of registering for your third attempt

If your second exam attempt was in the re-exam period, you must register for the course again in the registration period.

  • You then have to follow the course and pass any contingent mandatory activities in order to participate in the exam (your third attempt) in the following exam period in December/January or May/June.

  • You might be exempt from the mandatory activities or allowed to re-submit assignments from earlier, but you need to consult your course manager about this. You need to be sure of what is required of you, to be able to go to the exam.

If your second exam attempt was at the ordinary exam in December/January or May/June, you must register for your third attempt in the re-exam period by sending an email to sap@itu.dk no later than on the 2nd Wednesday of respectively February or July.*

*If your grades are released after the above deadline and you discover that you need to register for your third attempt in the re-exam period, please contact sap@itu.dk within 3 days of the grade announcement.

If you fail your third exam attempt, you will have used all your exam attempts.

A fourth exam attempt?
In this scenario you can try to apply for a fourth exam attempt.

You apply for an exemption, demonstrating and documenting what led to this situation. As with all exemptions, there needs to be special circumstances at play.
